The pistachio (/pɪˈstɑːʃioʊ, -ˈstæʃ-/, UK also /pɪˈstætʃ(i)oʊ/;[2] Pistacia vera) is a small to medium-sized tree of the cashew family. The tree produces seeds that are widely consumed as food.[3]
In 2022, world production of pistachios was one million tonnes, with the United States, Iran, and Turkey combined accounting for 88% of the total.
