Nagako (良子; 6 March 1903 – 16 June 2000),[1] posthumously honoured as Empress Kōjun (香淳皇后, Kōjun Kōgō),[1] was a member of the Imperial House of Japan, the wife of Emperor Hirohito and the mother of Emperor Emeritus Akihito. She served as Empress of Japan from 1926 until her husband's death in 1989, making her the longest-serving empress consort in Japanese history.[2]
