Pokémon/Characters/Brendan

Brendan (ユウキ or Yūki in Japanese) is a fictional character in the Pokémon universe.

In the Anime

Unlike other protagonists in the Pokémon video games, who have made at least one appearance in the Pokémon anime, Brendan has yet to make an appearance. However, if he does, the chances are that he will be Professor Birch's son.

Movie Appearance

According to Serebii.net, Brendan did make a cameo appearance in the opening sequence of the 6th Pokémon movie, Jirachi Wishmaker. What can be confirmed at this point of time is that he is from Littleroot Town, has an Aggron and Shiftry, and wants to become a Pokémon Master (compare to Ash).

In the Video Games

Brendan is the playable male trainer in Pokémon Ruby, Sapphire and Emerald. He is Norman's son or Professor Birch's kid if you choose the female Trainer in the game. Brendan is known to be fond of May.

In the Manga

Brendan inspires Ruby in the manga Pokémon Adventures, just like how May inspires Sapphire.

Ruby first appears in Volume 15 of Pokémon Adventures, and is the son of Petalburg City Gym Leader Norman, despite the fact that he dislikes battling and prefers Pokémon Contests.

Throughout Volumes 15 to 19, he has been observed quarreling a lot with Sapphire, but from Volume 20 onwards, their quarrels subsided, and in Volume 21, it is revealed that both Ruby and Sapphire has a crush on each other, as well as the fact that they have been childhood friends, and that under Ruby's hat is the scar he received while protecting Sapphire from a wild Salamence back then.
